Life on the road: Greg Beers and his merchant mission
When Greg Beers joined our business in a newly created role as Business Development Manager his mission was simple… to let merchants far and wide know how our offsite services can help them to create and maintain competitive advantage.
Six months in the role and Greg has been busy to say the least. He’s travelled up and down the country delivering samples to merchants of all sizes, building new connections at industry expos and making the most of a free breakfast here and there at regional networking events.
He told us: “What makes TFS unique is that we offer a complete offsite solution to finish any timber substrate, all under one roof. This adds genuine value not just to merchant ranges but also to house builders, distributors and manufacturers which can capitalise on the benefit of expanding product choice – without increasing stock inventory.
“We’re helping our merchant customers to increase the return on lower volumes by turning their blank doors into fully finished, ready to hang doors or by transforming plywood into factory finished site hoarding. Utilising our machining services is also helping customers to reduce lead times on certain materials. For example, square edge panels can be quickly machined to a tongue and groove finish.”
A standout event for Greg was the Offsite Expo back in September where he caught up with new and existing industry contacts leading to multiple follow up meetings.
“In the current economic climate, many businesses in construction are seeing a decline in demand. It’s more important than ever to have a competitive edge, whether that’s diversifying range, speeding up turn-around times or utilising the best methods and machinery. That’s where we can add value.
“It’s events like the Offsite Expo that I get the opportunity to meet business leaders and influencers from across the UK that can really benefit from our services.”
Greg will be attending the London Build expo on the 15th November and the South East Construction Expo on the 16th November. If you can’t make those events, his diary is open for client visits and delivering door samples.
