TFS and BSW Named as Finalists in Building Innovation Awards 2019

At TFS, collaborating with industry partners is a core part of our ethos as we understand the potential of sharing best practice advice and resources to deliver innovative and dynamic products and services.

One partnership that has been recognised in the industry recently, is our work with BSW Timber. TFS and BSW Timber have successfully been named as finalists in the 2019 Building Innovation Awards, with the development of IRO Timber securing us a shortlisting in the Best Materials Innovation category.

The Building Innovation Awards celebrate the most innovative products, services and technologies that are currently shaping the UK construction industry. Recognising pioneering organisations and partnerships that embrace emerging technologies, the awards are an accolade for taking construction to the next level.

The recent introduction of IRO Timber to the market has revolutionised the demand for timber in a world of low maintenance alternatives for decking and cladding. Utilising the traditional method of heat enhancement, whilst embracing the most recent advancements in timber technologies, IRO Timber is a water and stain repellent decking or cladding solution, suitable for both internal and external applications.

Howard Morris, Managing Director at TFS, commented: “We have been working closely with BSW Timber to help make a traditionally time-consuming process of heat enhancement for timber products scalable for mainstream manufacture. Processing IRO Timber at our facility to coat the enhanced product with a uniquely formulated wax has helped to introduce the aesthetically pleasing, rustic design to the market. We are incredibly pleased to be recognised within the Building Innovation Awards and it is testament to our commitment to find new and innovative ways to add value to timber products.”
