Substantial investment cements position as one-stop shop for door machining services

Trade Fabrication Systems (TFS), the UK’s leading processor of wood-based panel products, has responded to increased industry demand for prefinished doors by investing in specialist equipment that significantly expands its offsite machining capabilities. With the new machining lines fully operational, TFS can now pre-finish doors with hinges, mortice locks, vision panels, drop seals, and lipping. 

This means TFS can process a blank door and complete all preparations required for hanging using offsite processes. To ensure safe shipping and storage on-site, the doors are packaged and shrink-wrapped, which can be removed immediately prior to installation. 

Howard Morris, Managing Director, TFS, explains: “With the exception of fitting glazing, we are now equipped to handle all door joinery works offsite. In doing so, we’re offering a precision finish that saves time, improves quality, and reduces on-site waste.”

The new offering from TFS will help drive construction efficiencies by giving contractors greater control over site programmes as doors can be prefinished and delivered to site ‘Just in Time’.

In addition to machining, TFS can also apply fire-retardant drop seals to doors. This not only assists with smoke containment but can also be used to dampen the travel of sound. 

As members of the British Woodworking Federation (BWF), TFS’ machining capabilities can be utilised as approved partners in fire door manufacturing, further enhancing its offsite B2B services.
